Researching My Ancillary Task: Film Posters

Film posters are a big part in the advertising of a film. Apart from having a trailer for a film, it is expected that a poster be produced for the upcoming movie. All in all it's still regarded as promotion for the motion picture. Films usually have a budget when it comes to promoting the film.
The poster must be able to showcase the movie and bring around a positive affect. A film poster has a specific purpose and the purpose of it is to incite awareness to a range of people and make it attractive for a specific audience who will come and watch the movie. Where the posters are showcased can affect the publicity for the film. Promoting inside a movie theatre is important but it is even more important to expand your form of promotion outside of the theatre so it becomes widely recognized.
Film posters have been used since movies came into action. This film poster is a very old example of a film poster being published in 1915 for a film named 'Birth Of A Nation'. Originally film posters were very produced exclusively for movie theatres.
Recent film posters show that are a clear indication of what a prospective audience are
expecting from the film. In my poster i want to clearly highlight to the audience about the character sterotypes in my film, almost similar to an exisiting teen film poster of 'Mean Girls'. This clearly shows the difference between a group of characters to a single character. They are higher up in position contrasting to the 'new girl' who has just come into school and her body language shows she is in fact 'overpowered' by this type of character.
